Exploring Split

Croatia - Old town

Walk - About 2 hours - 5€ (ex. suppl.2€) A Must

This audio-tour of Split will begin with the Bronze Gate, one of the entrances to the former Palace of Diocletian. It is situated on the Promenade, at N°23. The city’s inhabitants call this avenue the Riva, a name we prefer to its official title of "Obala Hrvatskog Narodnog Preporoda".
And apart from this gate, what will be seeing? Today we’re going to visit the old town of Split, which is entirely located within the immense Palace built by the Emperor Diocletian on the shores of the Adriatic in the 3rd century. Since then, innumerable changes have been made to the site, but the outline of the palace and its ruins are still visible. We’ll have an opportunity to see them during our visit as well as some architectural marvels such as Diocletian's mausoleum, which has been turned into a church, and the Temple of Jupiter. But above all, we’ll be strolling around the little streets of this charming and appealing city.
