A Must
Prague castle, the Hrad, is the most important architectural ensemble in Prague. Perched on a rocky outcrop on the left bank of the Vltava River, its history goes back over one thousand years. The district inside the walls of the castle has continuously expanded since its foundation in the 9th century, and today is truly a city in itself, comprised of palaces, interior courtyards, steeples, alleys and gardens. A visit to the castle is not just a pleasant jaunt in one of the most beautiful fortresses in the world, but a journey into the heart of the Czech identity, which is one thousand years old. We offer two separate visits that allow you to discover this site. This second tour is dedicated to the Royal Palace, St George's basilica, and the Golden Lane, and it ends in the castle’s gardens, which offers a truly breathtaking view of the city. At the old Royal Palace, we will discover the large and unique Vladislav Hall, where we will learn about the Defenestration of Prague in 1618, which led to the terrible Thirty Years’ War.
