What does this audio visit consist of? Well, let’s begin by saying that the Tower of London is perhaps the city’s best-known and most famous monument. What does it look like? It is an imposing fortress surrounded by a double curtain of fortified walls, overlooking the River Thames. Great, and what will we find there? Quite simply a thousand years of English history dating back to its construction in the 11th century under William the Conqueror. Kings have lived and died here. It has served both as a fortress and palace but is, above all, considered to be mythical place. As a prison and the setting of numerous murders, it has also become a place of legends, novels and tales. However, since the 19th century, the Tower of London has also been listed as one of the country’s finest historical monuments and home to the Crown Jewels.
