SalzburgThe Rome of the Alps
Salzburg was designed by the Prince Archbishops, who ruled the city until the 19th century. With a view to creating a smaller version of Rome, they erected a city that was a breathtaking example of religious Baroque. The city has undoubtedly got style: it is protected on three sides by wooded hills and the narrow lanes that flank the holy buildings, emerging into vast piazzas, make it a highly romantic spot. As we walk along, we'll naturally get an opportunity to talk about its most famous citizen, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Our audio visits and walks will introduce you to its main neighbourhoods and monuments.
