Our audio tour of the British Museum, one of the largest museums in the world, lasts around 2 hours. It is obviously impossible to see everything. Our selection is therefore relatively arbitrary and focuses on the most celebrated works in the museum which illustrate the histories of world cultures. We will be examining the secrets of the Rosetta Stone, the spectacular Khorsabad Assyrian bulls, the fascinating Egyptian mummies, Greek art with the Nereids of Xanthos, and, of course, the Parthenon friezes as well as a curiosity cabinet from the Age of the Enlightenment. We then move on to the Americas and examine several Aztec and Mayan treasures, before ending our visit with one of the ever-mysterious statues from Easter Island.
