Old Berlin from Castle Bridge to Alexanderplatz

Germany - Central Berlin

- About 2 hours - 5€ (ex. suppl.2€) Classic

On this visit we will discover the fascinating historical center of Berlin. In the middle ages, it was at this location, then Slavic land, that a small German colony settled. From it sprung a town that has become the capital of Germany and a gigantic royal castle stood on the banks of the Spree for centuries. Today we shall see what stand in its place: the government buildings of the GDR, from which the totalitarian regime guided East Berlin with an iron hand. We will then walk over to the Alexanderplatz television tower, one of Berlin’s most powerful symbols. On our way there we will admire the Old Royal Stables, stroll in charming old Nicholas neighborhood – a haven of peace in the midst of the city’s hustle and bustle – and see the gigantic 19th-century Rotes Rathaus City Hall, before ending our walk at the church of St. Mary with its lovely Gothic architecture and art treasures. All of these sites will allow us to evoke some of the major episodes in the history of this city.
