Walk - About 2h15 - 5€ (ex. suppl.2€) Classic

This tour will take us on a visit of the sumptuous state apartments where the Prince-Bishops of Salzburg resided in the 18th century. Whilst listening to their stories and those of the town itself, you’ll be viewing tapestries, magnificent furnishings and above all, the exquisite frescos of Rottmayr. Baroque and Rococo art will hold no mysteries for you after this tour.
You’ll then have the opportunity to view the principal artworks in the painting gallery, including a unique work by Rembrandt. Following our tour of the marvels of the Baroque palace, we’ll take you to the Franciscan Church which served as a chapel to the Residenz at one time. This church will take us on a journey through the history of art from the Romanesque to the Baroque period.
The principal places and themes covered in this tour:
The Baroque façade of the Residenz; The Baroque frescos of Rottmayr; The Baroque and Rococo rooms of the Residenz; 16th century tapestries and handsome furnishings; Commentary on the works in the Residenz Gallery: "Sleeping Child” by Strozzi, "Old Woman Praying” by Rembrandt, " Allegory on Charles V" by Rubens, “Village Landscape” by Jan Brueghel; “The Last Supper” by Maulbertsch.
